Well, it’s almost the middle of January- how is this even possible? I swear it was just the middle of December and I was thinking Christmas will be here soon, with a blink of an eye Christmas is over, New Year’s Eve passed, and it’s now January 10th. I learned one major lesson this holiday season, no matter how prepared I think I am- I’m NOT! We were so busy the week before Christmas, I like to blame it on the kid’s activities- we had something every night of the week. But it’s also because I had to make a few last minute trips to a few too many stores, decided a half way through the week to make a fleece blanket as a Christmas gift and didn’t start wrapping until Christmas Eve. But it all worked out, Christmas was wonderful (I know I’m really late to the game, but I will share a post about Christmas later this week). New Year’s Eve was celebrated and I enjoyed having the first week of January off work.
But now it’s back to the grind- back to work, back to school and back to actually posting here. During my hiatus, I thought about what I really wanted this blog to be. In a world filled with social media and individuals only (usually, most likely) posting the highlights of their life (who wants to post the not so pretty stuff), it’s difficult not to compare or almost become jealous of others. I find it hard not to think well I don’t do cool things like them or my pictures aren’t as good as theirs- so why would anyone ever read my blog, why should I keep posting. But this blog isn’t for me to try to keep up with others. This blog, is a way to document my life (hence the name) and have a place where myself, the kids and Steve can look back over the years to remember different things we did or products we used (the kids are always amazed when I talk about how my first cell phone had a tiny screen and the only game I had was snake, I wish I would have kept it!), almost like an online time capsule. But of course I also hope that others will enjoy reading and might even relate. So let’s see how this goes!
