Detroit is the New Black

Watching the city of Detroit work hard to make a comeback is exciting and thrilling! I have particularly enjoyed trying out the new restaurants with a new one opening seemingly every month. The one thing that downtown has been lacking is retail shopping – but I am glad to say this too seems to be on an upward trend. Woodward Avenue is quickly becoming a routine shopping area for me during lunch.

This summer Nike and Kit and Ace joined Moosejaw, The Detroit Shoppe, John Varvatos and Detroit is the New Black as mainstays, and the holiday season has added two pop-up shops this year.

The Cityloft pop-up is filled with great products from The Detroit Shoppe and will include the best from Somerset where 40 stores will be rotating their products all holiday season.

The Holiday House pop-up offers tons of products from other Detroit and surrounding area stores. The different participating retailers are City Bark, Talulah Belle, Has Heart, Bird Bee, Detroit Artifactry, Woodward Throwbacks, Douglas & Co., Cannelle Patisserie, David Vintage, State & Liberty, Detroit Grooming Co., Black Vinyl and The End Grain Woodworking Co.

Whether it’s during your lunch break, a nice brunch downtown on the weekend, or an evening plan for some shopping, if you are anywhere around the Detroit area, you should definitely check out the shops on Woodward for some fun holiday shopping.
